Rick And Morty (S08E09)
“Morty Daddy”
Morty Jr. returns!
That's right, for the first time since season one, we finally get to see what this Gazorpazorp has been up to. Which is, apparently, that he's been sick. So he calls his father from a hospital, and while Morty goes to pay him a visit, Rick and Summer decide to check out a trendy restaurant. One that brings out your order before you even know what you want.
The secret behind this restaurant's predictions? Precognitions are on the staff, of course.
Which means that, as Morty gets to spend some time with his estranged son, Rick and Summer spend some time in a Minority Report-esque subplot. They even go on a similar chase sequence from the movie and everything! Which is a lot of fun.
And while Morty Jr.'s story isn't even all too insightful, I still enjoyed how the episode developed his relationship with Morty. Hopefully we'll get to see him again some time in the future. And hopefully we won't have to wait another twelve years to see that return. Because it would be nice to see Morty hanging out with people other than Rick from time to time. After all, the fourteen year-old deserves to have his own Goonies-inspired adventures that are separate from his grandfather.
Still, I can't deny that I thought this episode is pretty good. It may not be the most memorable penultimate episode, but it’s still rather fun.
So, with only one more episode left to go, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this season will conclude.
